I just got married on August 15th at the Music Center Plaza in Downtown, Los Angeles. I had some amazing vendors, one of which included George Akashyan from George Foto. This is a highlight reel of our wedding made by Konstantine Films who was shooting a piece on George’s work! Both are so creative and artistic – I’m lucky to have had such a great team!
Looking for a new and inventive idea for lighting in your event space? How about transferring the light from overhead to under your feet. It creates a very dynamic pinlight effect and adds to the decor substantially. Lit dance floors seem like the best way to get the effect. Here are some examples:
This summer going green doesn’t just mean riding your bike to work or recycling those wine bottles – it means ditching the roses that will die in a week to lucious succulents that can last you months! Also, accessorize your tables with banana leaves and bamboo sticks – leave those rose petals for the aisle!
Springtime in Southern California is like no other – with the ocean’s cool breezes and the sun’s warm rays its no wonder why more and more people are moving their party outdoors and into (or over) the water.
It’s always a good idea to take advantage of amazing deals when you see them…..and here’s one that knock your socks off! Gold or Mahogany Chiavari Chairs for $5 each! We are offering a summer special on both the gold and the mahogany chair during the month of May! Call us or email us for reservations: info@vrspecialevents.com or 310-926-4001
These lanterns work beautifully for lighting pieces in a Morroccan or Casablanca themed event. The white creates a soft neutral palate and won’t compete with the other bold colors in the room.
The Z Gallerie Casablanca Lantern comes in 3 sizes: 18″ for $14.95, 29″ for for $37.95 or 35″ for $49.95.
They can be hung from the ceiling, displayed as centerpieces on table tops, arranged around a lounge or even used to create an entranceway to the event. The possibilities are endless!
I’ve always thought that heatlamps looked so boring and have tried to avoid using them as much as I possibly could – only because of its inability to lend itself to the decor. Well, Classic Party Rentals read my mind! At The Special Event Conference and Trade Show in San Diego they displayed their ultimate heat lamp…an actual heat lamp! I guess great minds do think alike!
Velvet Rope Special Events produces numerous holiday events in the months of November and December. This year our favorite was an event from a client company who loves themes as much as we do. The diversity of their team members requires management to steer towards hosting a holiday party that highlights the achievements of their staff without singling out any particular culture or religion – a perfect antedote for a themed event! Their design committe concocted the wonderful “Puttin’ on the Ritz” theme and immediately we had visions of pearls, feathers, top hats and flappers. Guests were greeted by flapper girls adorning them with pearl necklaces and top hats. Costumed with the latest 1920’s fashion, guests made their way through champagne trays and hor d’ouvre stations to the Speakeasy Lounge where they could play casino games and listen to the jazz trio. Once dinner was ready, the main ballroom opened its doors for a special performance by Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers themselves!
We attended the Special Event Conference and Trade Show in San Diego this week and found the most amazing vendors with creative and imaginative event ideas to really wow your guests. One of my favorites were the strolling characters from Champagne Showgirls The girls are dressed up in elaborate costume from the waist up and the waist down consists of a table made to look like their skirt. The table has wheels and the girls are placed in the middle of the table and can walk around and become interactive with whatever you place on that table – whether it’s hors d’oeuvres, desserts or cocktails. Can’t picture it? Check out this video from Screaming Queens
We all know the saying “April showers brings May flowers” but I’ve noticed that most Bridal Showers are held around May – right in time for the summer wedding. A great idea for a bridal shower centerpiece is to play with the shower motif. Find some beautifully designed umbrellas with tall handles and plant them in a pot with either dirt, oasis or any heavy material that would keep it in place. Then hang sparkly beads from the perimeter and adorn the ends with a either a single flower (orchids or roses work best) or leave it as is. Don’t forget to cover your vase with leaves, flowers or extra beads. Use these pictures for inspiration…
